Overview

Glock Knight is a narrative action RPG created solo for GBJAM 8, competing against 258 entries. Every aspect (design, pixel art, tile maps, and chiptune soundtrack) was built by one person within authentic Game Boy hardware constraints.

Design Focus

Designing Within Constraints

160x144 pixels. Four colors. These aren’t limitations. They’re a design language. Every sprite, every tile, every UI element had to communicate clearly within extreme constraints. This project taught me that restriction is the most powerful creative tool.

Narrative Through Mechanics

The premise is morally-driven, and the mechanics themselves carry narrative weight. Player choices aren’t just dialogue branches; they’re reflected in how the game plays.

Full-Stack Solo Development

Created all pixel art in Piskel, composed all chiptune audio in Open MPT, designed all encounters and tile maps in GB Studio. This project proved I could ship a complete experience alone.
